After a lifetime on the mainland, author/illustrator Beth Rand hopped a ferry for Peaks Island, just off the coast of Portland, Maine and never returned. She lives with her husband and dog in a home surrounded by sunshine, salt air, and seagulls. Beth, who was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is a self-taught artist and avid photographer. She prefers playful, rhythmic text. When she isn’t drawing or writing she enjoys gardening. ABC Gulls is her first children’s book.
